How to rewire your brain

When I read what stimulates neurogenesis, I laughed and once again I paid tribute to the genius of Osho. The power of Dynamic Meditation, devised by Osho, is being gradually understood and proven by modern science.

Neurogenesis (generation of new neurons) is the process of the brain to renew and upgrade itself. To increase neurogenesis is to improve the entire human’s life: how we think, feel and act. Up until late 1990s neuroscience accepted as fact that the brain stops growing new brain cells by adulthood. Scientists have recently discovered that new neural pathways and connections can be increased at any age, through appropriate stimulation; which means it is never too late to start meditating and upgrading your brain! Enhancing your brain connectivity also prevents the development of Dementia and neuro-degenerative diseases like Parkinson and Alzheimer.

As far as I am aware, no peer-reviewed and published studies have been conducted directly on Dynamic Meditation, however, scientists say that these are some of the most important factors which stimulate neurogenesis: aerobic exercise, emotional cleansing, silence and gratitude. Sounds familiar? And interestingly, scientists say that new neurons formed by the hippocampus take 3 to 4 weeks to mature. Osho recommended to do Dynamic Meditation at least for 21 days consecutively to allow the changes initiated by the technique to become long-term.

The brain changes and constantly creates new connections – with repetition the changes rewire the brain. The brain is in a constant state of flux. Without repetition neural connection disappear due to the limited space in the skull – there is only room for the essential. So the brain prunes new neurons that are not used to avoid over clutter, hence it is important to meditate regularly and at least for 21 days continuously.

I have heard someone saying: “Neuroscience is too important to be left to neuroscientists”. The time has arrived to demystify neuroscience and make studies available to the general public rather than buried in technical journals for specialists.

A number of studies show that meditation increases the hippocampus along its entire length. The hippocampus is the part of the brain involved in memory, new learning and cognition; it is also involved in regulating emotions, especially stress and depression.

With the regular practice of meditation, measurable brain changes can be achieved, such as: increase grey matter in areas of the brain connected with empathy and decrease size of the amygdala (the part of the brain connected with fear, anxiety and stress response).

In addition, studies have demonstrated that a number of very important health biomarkers are improved through meditation:

  • Increased hippocampus size

  • Increased glucose metabolism

  • Increased cognitive performance

  • Increased memory

  • Lower stress hormones

  • Decreased depression

Osho Dynamic Meditation offers all the health benefits proven by modern scientific research on meditation. In addition, the latest publications on neurogenesis show that this particular method seems to be more comprehensive and advanced, as it works on multiple levels: body, emotions, mind, spirit.

We at Love Osho are so passionate about Dynamic Meditation, having practised it for over 20 years, and we are now offering weekly Dynamic Meditation in central London.

It is such a joy to see so many young people coming to experience Dynamic Meditation, attracted by this powerful tool for inner transformation. The vast majority are new comers who really put their heart and soul into it and contribute to create a strong energy field.

It’s time to move your body, quieten your mind and upgrade your brain, will you join us? We are waiting for you.
